IS UNWAS™
Image Soft Underwater Surveillance System (IS UNWAS™) is designed for detecting and tracking both underwater and surface targets. It is a distributed and modular system that uses passive hydrophone arrays to track and classify acoustic targets based on the sounds they make. IS UNWAS™ provides real-time tactical view of the underwater and surface situation and integrates to other security systems for comprehensive maritime area surveillance.

Long range detection and tracking
UNWAS™ system can track underwater or surface objects at extremely long distances and provide positioning of targets as well as automatic target classification and alerting. UNWAS™ also supports quick deployments with semi-portable version to cover specific event or point target. Passive and stealthy UNWAS™ sensors are practically impossible for the enemy to locate and destroy. The hydrophone signals are recorded locally for weeks and operators can make permanent recordings from desired channels and periods of time for offline analysis and archiving.

TRAINING PLATFORM
IS Coastal Combat Simulator (CCS)
IS CSS™ is a training platform that is designed to maximize the skills of coastal defense units by creating a highly realistic simulated environment for coastal defense and surveillance training. The training platform allows running complex and realistic training scenarios in a classroom setting with minimal costs whereas live training with real equipment would cost millions.
IS CSS™ combines three coastal defense activities into a single integrated training environment.
- Underwater surveillance with passive acoustic sensor arrays (IS UNWAS™)
- Coastal artillery fire control with realistic fire control system (laser range/direction finder with thermal camera)
- Anti-submarine warfare operations with simulated ASW vessel/patrol boat including simulated weapons use (torpedoes, depth charges, depth rockets)
Submarine detection
A typical integrated training session could start with friendly surveillance center sonar operator detecting an intruding submarine with UNWAS™ basic and system tools. As alert is generated, the perspective is shifted to the defending patrol vessel bridge where cadets start the engines of the ASW patrol craft behind a fully equipped and modeled ship bridge with real hardware controls. As the patrol craft sails towards the intruding submarine location, surveillance center cadets can observe the friendly vessel’s progress in their surveillance view and provide further guidance to the ASW patrol craft on target’s heading and speed.
Engaging the enemy
In the simulation, patrol vessel can then deploy torpedoes, depth charges and depth rockets to counter the enemy submarine as well as direct coastal artillery fire from the simulated deck of the patrol vessel using 100% accurate reproduction of actual Laser rangefinder / thermal camera equipment. The resulting defensive battle can be followed real time and recorded for post training analysis from teachers workstation.
Highly effective training
The modular structure of IS CSS™ allows building also highly specific and customized trainings for different purposes. The basics of underwater acoustic surveillance and tactical procedures can be taught to new sonar operators while separate advanced trainings can be tailored for acoustic intelligence officers focused on long range intelligence gathering, classification and detailed identification and analysis.
